What is EXCUSE ME MISS??

Started back in 2009 with an idea come up by YellaStud and DJ’s The Dynmaic Duo (also with help from all female web site; AgainstTheGrainMusic.com). Excuse Me Miss came about as a series of mixtapes to showcase the hottest females in the game right now. Whether Indy or mainstream, if they are dope on the mic, you would most definitely hear them on Excuse Me Miss. Vol 1 featured women from Texas. Vol 2. featured women worldwide AND THEN with Vol 3. featured East Coast females, people started taking a listen. With 17,000 listens and 18,000 downloads alone in one day on thatcrack.com and icecreamixtapes.com. Excuse Me Miss is beginning to become a house hold name when it comes to an all female compilation series. The mission of this project is to showcase the hottest female talent PERIOD! Our mission is to help female artist get heard worldwide and to help them gain exposure. We look for no compensation from anyone. We just want to let the world know FEMALES CAN RAP TO! We feel that so many female emcees get slept on WAY TOO MUCH and that needs to change NOW. We believe women in Hip-Hop are unrepresented overall and especially in Indie Hip-Hop. We hope to show people that “Excuse Me Miss” is a must have in any Hip-Hop lovers collection. We were also awarded the 2010 TEXAS PLATINUM HOOD AWARD for FEMALE MIXTAPE OF THE YEAR FOR VOL 1 & 2.

Even though it’s as unnatural as McDonald’s meat patties, some people continue tearing others down instead of investing in who they are. When you find that these energy vampires are flashing their fangs in your direction, remember that they themselves are fragile. What venom they hurl at you reflects what they think about themselves. And if it so happens that there is truth in what they say, their rotten character still steals the spotlight from what’s said about you. The people who are worthy of your time will see this, and see them in a different light, not you. Of course, it takes practice for most of us to not take these things personally, but detaching from their attacks helps us make quantum leaps from feeling victimized to being empowered. So if and when you an energy vampire yapping away in your face, imagine seeing the situation as a third party instead of through your own eyes. This way you can remain dignified in your actions and know better than to retaliate with negative words of your own. Use assertive statements to set clear boundaries to show them that you’ll stay in control of yourself so they may as well quit while they’re ahead. And if you’re still in the process of building your assertiveness skills, many times the tone in which you say something will beenough to deflect their flapping gums. Say for example an energy vampire sees you make a mistake and immediately pounces on you for it. Use a calm, yet stern tone and say “Yeah, I got it”. You can drawl it out to stand your ground and express your frustrations in a respectable way. You’ll also be able to minimizeor completely relinquish what they’re saying and doing as you do this. This will usually stop them dead in their tracks, unless of course they are a codered energy vampire. In that unfortunate case, you can try one last time saying something a tad more rude, but you shouldn’t hurl insults at them per se. There’s no need to defend yourself either. Instead, elaborate on what they’re saying to have it backfire on them. Let’s say the energy vampire ignores you and spits “I’m just so surprised at your incompetence”, you could shoot back with “Yeah, you’re right, I guess you’re rubbing off on me” and be done with it. If that doesn’t get them to back off your grill, then just walk away. If that’s not possible, turn your attention to something else or someone else. Just keep it moving.

Sovanna “LadyRawk” Di is a hip-hop dancer coming out of Northern California. Sought out for being diverse, She knows various hip-hop styles, but breaking is her passion. As a Cambodian American immigrant, Sovanna had to fight through language barriers as a child that left her shy and timid amongst her peers. It wasn’t until she discovered dance in high school that she felt like she had found her way out of introversion. Acknowledging her new found talent, Sovanna quickly advanced as a break-dancer and then expanded to other dance styles such as popping and house dancing. In 2008 she decided to showcase her skills on YouTube. She quickly created a fan base that has stuck with her over the years. Now at the age of 21, Sovanna has exceeded her own expectations having worked with some of the top hip-hop dancers in the country, such as the Sisters of the underground and B-boy Ivan.

If you’re open to all kinds of women or you just don’t yet know what you want in your mate, place the focuson yourself. Ask yourself what is important to you in your own independent life. Think about what areas in your life you want to see real progress in. Create or review morals that speak to your soul. It could be that you really admire honesty in other people and in yourself. Giving and getting respect could be on the top of your list. Or maybe it is the classic live-for-the-moment theme that gives you the most joy in your life. Once you realize what’s important for you, do things everyday that strengthen it. Speak up about a mistake you made that nobody noticed but will serve for the greater good of all. Spark a sincere conversation with a person who seems to feel out of place. You’ll know how to spot them out. They are the wall flowers with averted eyes. And the next time you get the urge to sing along to one of your favorite songs, do it. Forget about the strangers around you thinking you’re crazy. They’ll sense that it’s coming from your heart instead of trying to attract attention, and they’ll respect it. Heck, someone may even whip out their phone and you’ll and on YouTube! So once your ideal character becomes the default in your life, you’ll naturally attract people compatible with your new found glory. And though you’ll repel others right away, some of them will actually see your characterand it will inspire them. Your actions and words will have awakened something in them that longs for truth, respect, and spontaneity in themselves, and in the world as a whole. Don’t underestimate how your actions affect others. Letit really sink in that every single person you encounter during your amelioration will be affected. You’ll be a positive force gliding through most people’s lives so know this and feel grateful for the opportunity to give this to them. Patience will be a virtue on your journey of making the puzzle pieces flow into place. Keep faith that your new love is making her way over to you. Relish in your anticipation for the future sweetness and sauciness you’ll besharing with someone worth the wait and effort you put in.
